The Ukraine-Russia war is one of the most talked about events pretty much in 2022. With the public, governments, and other institutions from all over the world commenting, discussing, debating, and trying to resolve the crisis, news about it was all over the internet.

However, the noise seems to have died down to a certain extent. So, people who aren’t updated with the latest news about the subject wonder if the crisis has been solved or if the war has reached a standstill. So, if you’re wondering about the same, here’s the latest update.

First things first. The war is still an ongoing global issue. Ukraine continues to struggle as Russia persists, and the world economy faces the problem's ripple effects. In short, the horrors of what we thought was over continue to exist.

However, Ukraine is starting to take control of its territories. Earlier, the Defense Ministry of Russia claimed everything was under control. But a few days ago, Russia announced it is annexing four regions: Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Luhansk.

Vladimir Putin, in his speed, said that the citizens of these four regions would become Russians forever. This move was considered illegitimate by several international communities. Furthermore, this contradicts the statements by the Russian ministry, which claimed otherwise earlier. Besides this, the Kremlin, on Monday, also mentioned that it didn’t know where the borders for these four regions were.

President Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukrainian troops continue striving to recapture areas besieged by their rivals. On Sunday, he gave a celebratory speech about the recapture of Lyman, a North-Eastern frontier of the country. This is a significant achievement since the area was housing Russia’s key logistics infrastructure during the war.

The Russian government said their forces had to retreat before the Ukrainians encircled them. After several weeks, this development is a good sign for the affected country.

The President also mentioned that their counteroffensive forces have freed a few areas around Kherson and tried to reclaim more territory.

Furthermore, on the bright side, Ukraine has exported 253 vessels of agricultural products from its ports which were reopened in July under the Black Sea Grain Initiative. This initiative was backed by the UN.

According to the Joint Coordination Center, about 5.7 million metric tonnes of grain and other food products have been exported.

So, these are the latest updates from the Russia-Ukraine war. Ukraine seems to be strongly progressing towards reclaiming its territories.

On the other hand, the Russian government is facing several setbacks besides their loss at Lyman. Their military structuring seems to be rife, and their narrative around the developments of this conflict seems to be changing publicly, for which they’ve received a lot of criticism.

Furthermore, there have been numerous protests by Russian civilians in different areas, due to which the next steps of Russia seem to be unknown.

As I said earlier, the war is far from over. The political conflict between these two countries will take time to resolve. It would take even longer for relief measures to act in full force to regain the stability of Ukraine and its citizens.
