“Look, we’ve been stuck in the house for a year plus. It is time to bring on the bling, the colors, short dresses,” says model Adut Akech on the set of Vogue’s 7 Days, 7 Looks. “Let’s just go out and live life. By the end of the year, I want to say, ‘You can’t say we didn’t live life.’ This summer, we are outside, baby!” Kicking off another episode of Vogue’s video series, Akech walks through a week in her wardrobe. From a pair of her go-to Zara jeans to an embellished minidress by Area, each of Akech’s outfits are a good reminder of the fun that comes with getting dressed up and getting back out into the world again—whether the destination is the airport or a night out.

Akech has graced the runways of Saint Laurent, Valentino, Miu Miu, and Chanel. “I’ve had so many favorite runway moments—it’s kind of hard to choose,” says the 21-year-old model. “One of the most special ones was [being the] Chanel couture bride.… I was extremely honored when Karl chose me to be his Chanel couture bride three years ago. I was the second Black girl to ever do it, so that was a history-making moment at the same time as it being an honor and extremely special. I’ll always hold that special memory.”

“I would describe my personal style as easygoing, comfortable, but I can still be sexy sometimes,” says Akech. Indeed all seven of the model’s looks evoke an effortless elegance, and she shares practical styling tips for staying comfortable all day long and how to balance a skin-baring piece with something a tad more demure. Take her Off-White knit maxidress with a large cut-out on the side—it’s both casual and sexy at once. In this look, Akech illustrates how to simplify a transition from day to night while on the go. Her Bottega Veneta bag is big enough to hold her nighttime items. “Throw on some heels with whatever you’re wearing and you’re good to go,” Akech explains, swapping out her sneakers for heels.

And thankfully, Akech has places to go and a reason to don sky-high heels this season. Watch for more of the model’s amped-up looks, most notably a pair of bright orange satin pants by Off-White and a crystal-embellished blue minidress by Area. A model’s off-duty style never looked so good!
