King Charles III asked singers Adele and Ed Sheeran to perform at the concert after his official coronation ceremony on May 6th, but they both declined.
"It's Such A Shame," Organizer says.
An organization team member for the event revealed that King Charles single-handedly suggested a list of people he would like to see at the coronation. The duo had made it to the list only to turn down the invitation later.
"He was very keen that they were part of the concert… There is a team set up to get the talent signed up so they approached the two of them, but got replies saying that they were unavailable, which was a massive disappointment. They are titans of the showbiz industry and are quintessentially British but also known across the globe. It’s such a shame,” he explained.
Adele Gave No Explanation
According to a report by OK, Ed Sheeran explained his scheduling conflicts as the reason for his absence at the event. The singer had already been booked for a concert in Texas, a day before the King's concert on May 7th, and it would be difficult to make it down to England in time for the event.
On the other hand, Adele did not explain for refusing the invite, and speculations are ongoing that it might be intentional since she's not scheduled for any live performance from March 25th.
Other performers of the event's concert are yet to be officially confirmed, but OK says the Spice Girls, Harry Styles, and Lionel Richie will likely grace the stage for the concert.
Another set of people yet to be confirmed on the guest list are the royal duo; Prince Harry and Megan Markle. Several outlets suggest that there is still no RSVP reservation for the couple.
Daily Mail had earlier reported that Prince Harry gave a condition of a meeting with his father and brother if he would be attending the event. Since the RSVP list is yet to include them, it can only mean that the royal family has yet to agree to Prince Harry's condition or he has yet to make up his mind.
