After a long wait, Elon Musk has finally announced his renewed entrance into the artificial intelligence industry with the launch of a new startup. The new Twitter owner officially launched his AI startup, xAI, on the 12th of July.
Before this Elon Musk's new project, the billionaire had been previously involved in many AI brands. He served on the board of directors for OpenAI when it was a non-profit organization. Additionally, he reportedly donated a generous $100 million to aid in the advancement of OpenAI. However, it appears that Elon Musk and OpenAI went their separate ways due to Musk's repeated criticisms of some aspects of the AI company's operations.
Elon Musk is an experienced figure in the AI industry. Following his separation from OpenAI, the Tesla billionaire has highlighted the need for government regulation in this field. Recently, he surprised many by announcing his entry into the AI space with his own brand called xAI.
Forget the name; xAI by Elon Musk has said on their website that they are not under the new X Corp. Elon Musk Made a simple tweet on his page while announcing the new project.

What is xAI All About?
On their website, xAI described what they stood for and the type of project they were trying to build. It seems the mission for the establishment of this company is quite straightforward. The website said," The goal of xAI is to understand the true nature of the universe."
Moving on to the team, their website says that Elon Musk is the leader of their team. They also mentioned that those on the team have worked for other companies, such as OpenAI, Tesla, and even Microsoft.
"Our team is led by Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX. We have previously worked at DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Tesla, and the University of Toronto."
Elon Musk's new project isn't the only thing the team has been building. In fact, the team behind this project has quite a large resume of previous projects.
"Collectively we contributed some of the most widely used methods in the field, in particular the Adam optimizer, Batch Normalization, Layer Normalization, and the discovery of adversarial examples," their website said.
To spice things up, it seems the team Elon Musk assembled heavily contributed to the development of AI rivals such as ChatGPT.
"We have worked on and led the development of some of the largest breakthroughs in the field including AlphaStar, AlphaCode, Inception, Minerva, GPT-3.5, and GPT-4," their website emphasized.
Elon Musk Wants To Bring Sanity to the AI Industry
According to the billionaire entrepreneur, while speaking on Spaces discussion on Twitter announcing xAI, he seeks to bring sanity to the artificial intelligence space. From Elon Musk's perspective, the AI industry is overridden by many issues.
"From an AI safety standpoint … a maximally curious AI, one that is trying to understand the universe, is, I think, going to be pro-humanity. If I could press pause on AI or really advanced AI digital superintelligence, I would. It doesn’t seem like that is realistic so xAI is essentially going to build an AI … in a good way, sort of hopefully," Elon Musk said.
