Nowadays, TikTok is where a lot of performers get their start. A young female rapper, Ice Spice, is responsible for one of the most popular songs on TikTok. You've likely heard snippets of her single; Boy's a Liar Pt. 2.

North West, Kim Kardashian, and Kanye West's firstborn, is a big fan of the artist. It is no wonder that Ice Spice is everywhere these days.

Ice Spice is Rising So Fast

According to reports, Ice Spice only recently began rapping in 2021 after getting to know record producer RiotUSA while attending Purchase College, State University of New York. Her first single, Bully Freestyle, was released in March of the same year. A  video of her performing the "Buss it" challenge had just become popular on Twitter when it happened. In August 2022, she independently released "Munch (Feelin' U)" and finally experienced the success she had always envisioned.

"We ended up clicking, and now having so much success with Munch, I think that just makes us closer," Ice Spice told Vogue of her relationship with RiotUSA.

Ice Spice quickly rose to fame and became an icon. In August, the 23-year-old released "Munch," an exhilarating drill smash that made her instantly quotable and revealed the world to her sharp raps. Lil Nas X started dressing up as her for Halloween around October.

Like her Halloween impersonation, the rapper Isis Gaston, who was up in the Bronx, has mastered going viral. Since "munch" is a derogatory term for someone obsessed with you, her song "Munch" helped popularize a new word in the hip-hop language. Each unique piece she released included memes and catchphrases related to her music. Ice Spice describes herself as "a typical college girl" before her first moment of virality with a TikTok "Buss It" challenge video. She has mastered the trade of vitality rapidly.

Ice signed a label agreement with 10K Projects and Capitol Records in the fall of last year, roughly one month after the release of "Munch." She released her debut EP, Like..?, a six-song collection titled for her trademark interjection, to her followers, collectively known as the Spice Cabinet and individually as Munchkins, at the start of 2023.

This EP further displayed her lyrical prowess and developed her drill style. The song "Gangsta Boo," featuring Lil Tjay, debuted on the Hot 100 at No. 82, making it Ice's first appearance on the chart. The project debuted in the top 10 of Billboard's Top Rap Albums chart and the top 40 of the Billboard 200. With another internet sensation PinkPantheress, she released "Boy's a Liar Pt. 2" in February, propelling both musicians to No. 3 on the Hot 100.

Drake performed her song Munch (Feelin' U) on his SiriusXM radio program Sound 42 in August 2022. Due to this, the song gained popularity on Twitter and TikTok and was subsequently included in the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Bubbling Under Hot 100 charts by Billboard.
