The invasion of Ukraine by Russia is now past 6 months, drawing global speculations and fear. The invasion has sparked widespread condemnation, especially after Russia annexed four terrorists in neighboring Ukraine (Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson).
Among the popular figures who have spoken out on the crisis is Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Musk sought his followers' opinions on the issues in a series of tweets and polls.
A particular poll published by the chief of the electric car company read thus;
“Redo elections of annexed regions under UN supervision.
Russia leaves if that is the will of the people.
Crimea is formally part of Russia, as it has been since 1783 (until Khrushchev’s mistake).
Water supply to Crimea assured.
Ukraine remains neutral.”
The poll, which currently has over 2.7 million responses, with about 59% opposing the suggestions, has sparked criticisms, including from Ukraine President Zelenskyy. Some of the responses accused him of siding with Russia.
Elon Musk had played a vital part in the ongoing military crisis in Eastern Europe by helping Ukraine maintain communications through his company Starlink. It is also reported that the Ukraine military utilizes Starlink terminals to coordinate operations and carry out artillery strikes.
However, the recent tweets from the Tesla CEO have made it quite difficult to ascertain whose side he's on.
