Superstar Colombian Singer still has difficulty getting over her breakup with football star Gerard Piqué. The 45-year-old musician has revealed how obscure life has been for her and her two sons three months after news of their separation broke on the internet.

"I've remained quiet and just tried to process it all," Shakira told Elle in the cover story of the publication's October page.

Shakira, who shares her two sons — nine-year-old Milan and seven-year-old Sasha with Piqué, has said that the heat of the split isn't on the verge of fading as paparazzi aren't backing down from trying to pry into her personal life.

"It's hard to talk about it, especially because I’m still going through it, and because I’m in the public eye and because our separation is not like a regular separation. And so it’s been tough not only for me but also for my kids. Incredibly difficult," she said.

She further recounted how difficult it is for the young kids to assimilate the unfortunate situation. According to the 'hips don't lie’ crooner, it affects the children when schoolmates accost them over the issues. However, Shakira hopes to do her best to protect the children from the emotional burden at all costs.

In other news, the ex-husband of the Latin star appears unperturbed by the turn of events. The Barcelona star is reportedly in a new relationship with 23-year-old PR student Clara Chia Marti. As a matter of fact, Spanish Media outlet Socialite published a video of Piqué kissing his new lady passionately.

Multiple allegations that Piqué cheated on his ex-wife have gathered solid acceptance as the reason that led to the downturn of the 11-year-old relationship. The fairytale relationship of the couple, which gained famed spur in 2011, came to an end in June 2022.

When asked about her breakup, Shakira said, "It's real!"

“And what's also real is the disappointment to see something as sacred and as special as I thought was the relationship I had with my kids' father and see that turned into something vulgarized and cheapened by the media. And all of this while my dad has been in the ICU, and I've been fighting on different fronts. Like I said, this is probably the darkest hour of my life."

Shakira Prefers not to Speak about Piqué's New Relationship

Shakira has opted not to talk about Piqué's new romance with a much younger woman. Obviously, the singer isn't really impressed with the turn of events. “Everything is so raw and new", she said.

Shakira recounted her life as nomadic, having decided to settle in Barcelona to support her ex-husband's career instead of moving to the US to keep the spotlight on her musical career.

“And so, one of the two had to make that effort and that sacrifice. And I did it. I put my career in second gear, and I came to Spain to support him so he could play football and win titles. And it was a sacrifice of love.

'Thanks to that, my kids were able to have a present mom, and I have this amazing bond with them that is unbreakable, and that sustains us. You know, that is it. That’s all I can say", the hit singer explained.

During the extensive interview, Sharika also addressed her tax fraud allegations which could get her behind bars for 8 years.

"I’ve paid everything they claimed I owed, even before they filed a lawsuit. So as of today, I owe zero to them", she said.
