The Titanic, a great masterpiece with the mix of love and survival that has fascinated its audiences for over two decades, continues to live in the hearts of its viewers around the globe.

Directed by the creative filmmaker James Cameron, the film's  narrative and exceptional performances by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet have secured its place in cinematic history.

Among the many unforgettable moments in the movie, one scene has remained embedded in the collective memory of audiences and that is the iconic door scene.

Recently, this unforgettable piece of cinematic history made headlines once again as it brought a whole sum of $718,750 at auction.

Initially believed to be a mere wooden panel, Heritage Auctions' Treasures revealed that it is, in fact, a part of the door frame situated just above the ship's first-class lounge entrance.

This revelation adds a layer of depth to an already iconic symbol, inviting fans from both the high and love class of life into the world of Titanic.

The door scene sparked intense debate and speculation among fans, resulting in discussions about whether both Jack and Rose could have survived if they had shared the door. This enduring question has captivated the imagination of audiences, leading to large analysis and reviews of the scene.

In a National Geographic special celebrating the film's 25th anniversary, director James Cameron embarked on a scientific experiment to address the debate surrounding the door scene.

Using stunt doubles with similar body masses to DiCaprio and Winslet, the experiment sought to determine the probability of both characters surviving on the door. However, the results proved unsure, proving the complexity of the situation.

Cameron, known for his meticulous attention to detail, emphasized the  significance of Jack's sacrifice for Rose.

“We put sensors all over them and inside them and we put them in ice water and we tested to see whether they could have survived through a variety of methods and the answer was, there was no way they both could have survived. Only one could survive,” the director said.

Drawing parallels to the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet, Cameron explained that Jack's decision was driven by his unwavering devotion to Rose, regardless of the consequences.

This interpretation further adds a deeper  meaning to the scene, elevating it beyond a mere plot twist.

Kate Winslet, who portrayed Rose in the film, offered her insights into the debate, providing a logical perspective on the matter. Drawing from her understanding of water changes, Winslet highlighted the practical challenges that both characters would have faced on the door.

Despite the romantic notion of sharing the door, Winslet reasoned that it would have been fatal with the weight of two adults, diminishing both their chances of survival.

Alongside the door, other notable props from Hollywood history were also sold, including Rose's chiffon dress worn in the film, which fetched $125,000.

The auction's success emphasizes the continued fascination with Titanic and its timeless storytelling.
