Many European Twitter staff have complained about not receiving their salaries shortly after Billionaire Elon Musk took over the company in a multi-million dollar deal. Twitter Elon Musk has been filled with controversies, with the new CEO caring less about what people say and doing exactly what he wants.
Shortly after completing the Twitter deal, Elon Musk reduced the number of employees on the social media platform from nearly eight thousand to less than a thousand persons. Many of these laid-off persons quit on their own after they failed to accept the terms Elon Musk presented for what he called Twitter 2.0.
From trusted news outlets, workers in the United Kingdom had received an email on the 25th of November which notified them that they would be receiving their paycheck three days later on the 28th. However, new reports show that Twitter staff from Germany and the United Kingdom are yet to receive any paycheck.
An email that was received read, " It has come to our attention that some of you may not have received your November 2022 salary yet in your bank account. The payments have gone through our Twitter bank account, and as usual, with no change to the process."
The email also indicated that the fault might have been from their bank and that they are working very hard to rectify the mistakes and ensure that those employees receive their money. It also said that there would be notifications if there were any schedule changes.
Former and Current Workers are Affected
According to a new outlet, Ars Technica, four independent sources from Germany and the UK have told them that Twitter Elon Musk has yet to pay them their salaries. This applies to those who were laid off or quit their job on the social media platform and those still working with the company. Those former workers of the company are waiting to receive their severances as promised by Twitter.
Normally, Twitter employees are paid on the 28th of each month. However, this month has been different as some are yet to receive their paycheck. Those who quit after Elon Musk presented work for long hours or quit ultimatum seem to regret their decision as it is now much harder to wait for the severance than to work for the company.
Those affected by the latest delay in payments suggest that the problem might be from something other than the disbursement of funds from the head of the company but rather from inadequate staff. Another source suggested that Twitter is now a "badly run" company that might be heading to its doom.
Another independent source said that because of the delay in releasing salaries by Elon Musk Twitter, they had been pushed into overdrafts.
"First, you are told you are out, but we are going to try to save your job. Then you get told you will be paid so you can’t start work or get paid for jobs. Otherwise, you’re fired. Now it’s payday, and direct debits are starting to be taken from a virtually empty account.
"I feel ashamed I trusted the words of the senior staff who now all got their money and are happily enjoying it, while the rest of us suffer like this. That is one very harsh way to push people to quit rather than wait for their severance packages," one of the Twitter staff recounted.
