Chicago-born rapper Kanye West has once again spurred wide criticisms following his surprise appearance at the Yeezy fashion show with a t-shirt that bore the inscription "White Lives Matter." The action during the Paris Fashion Week in France has drawn widespread disapproval from several black celebrities.
Kanye is stepping further to incite his critics after mocking the Black Lives Matter movement on Instagram. In his Instagram story on Tuesday, the 45-year-old rapper pointed out that the movement was a scam.
His story read, "Everyone knows that Black Lives Matter was a scam. Now it's over. You're welcome."
The story appears to be a response to his critics who frowned on his actions in Paris. Kanye put on a t-shirt with the phrase "White Lives Matter" inscribed. The phrase was reportedly coined by white supremacists who wanted to deride the severity of the Black Lives Matter movement. The Anti-Defamation League thereafter classified the slogan as a hateful.
23-year-old Selah Marley, the daughter of Lauren Hill, was spotted modeling the controversial sweatshirt at the launch of Kanye's Season 9 clothing line at the Yeezy Fashion show. The model has always made open her fondness for the rapper. However, her recent involvement in the controversy has drawn agitation from critics.
Jaden Smith Blows Hot
Among the list of celebrities that criticized the musician for his derision of the BLM Movement included Will Smith's son Jaden Smith. Jaden, also at the fashion show, took leave during Kanye's opening speech after spotting the White Lives Matter sweatshirt.
"I don't care who it is, if I don't feel the message, I'm out," Jaden said.
In the opening speech, Kanye referred to himself as a 'leader'. However, in what seems to be a quick counter, Jaden tweeted, 'True leaders lead".
The singer also went further to release tweets condemning the actions of Kanye and sending out support for the Black Lives Matter movement. Jaden explained his decision to abandon the YZY SZN9 with the tweet, "I had to dip, lol." He also ended his tweets with the famous slogan "Black Lives Matter."
Kim Kardashian is reportedly one of the celebrities who has condemned the Kanye for pulling the stunt. According to a source that spoke to Hollywood Life, Kim is not surprised by Kanye's actions as he is "trying to get attention".
“She knows that he loves to start controversy, and she is not even feeding into this. She thinks that he is making a horrible choice and that the message is very offensive to so many", the source continued.
Kanye's recent stunt is perceived to be major disrespect to the black race by other black celebrities, including Marc Lamont Hill and Jaden Smith.
Kanye had gone ahead to pose with conservative commentator Candice Owens. Kanye and Candice are well known for opposing the BLM Movement. The movement has been under attack for mismanagement of millions made through donations. Shalomyah Bowers, the movement's leader, allegedly used about $10 million from the donations to fund his consultancy firm.
